After pursuing various interests following early retirement, Violette started taking art classes in 2004 and never stopped painting ever since.

Her travels abroad and in Canada are a great source of inspiration for her art along with the many memories of her youth living in France and in tropical places. She strives to capture the light, the colours and the mood of those sites to share them visually.

Although watercolour is the medium of her choice, Violette also paints with acrylics and enjoys exploring other media. These new approaches to painting have helped her paint with bolder colours, more dynamic strokes and experiment with texture.
