When her teaching career came to an unexpected end after she sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2018, she began a part time Fine Art diploma program at Emily Carr University in 2021 which had a profound impact on her recovery and mental health. In her studies at ECU, Kelly realized that her permanent visual and neurological challenges affected her ability to both create and enjoy visual art. She began to explore the use of dark grounds and cooler colour palettes, and immediately noticed an improvement in both visual and cognitive load.

This new style, which she jokingly coined “Zeebism” has been immensely popular with all audiences. Kelly is proud and grateful to be a member of the Route 22 Artist Collective, the Calgary Artists' Society, Studio 52, Riverview Artists and to have been accepted as a juried member of the Alberta Society of Artists.

Her solo exhibition “Forest Bathing” was immensely popular, and she is excited to present a new exhibit “Envisioned” at cSpace in Calgary in July 2026.
