Louise Gant

Louise Gant paints mostly in oils
and is known for her colourful renditions
of landscapes, urban and rural.

She paints in a semi-abstract manner,
attempting to capture the feeling of a certain place
at a particular time
as she experienced it,
and to convey to the viewer
some of the interest and enjoyment
she felt in being there.

Glacier Bay

Louise was inspired during the 1970's and 80's
to paint an ongoing series of Calgary's old buildings
when the city was undergoing rapid urban renewal
and entire blocks of architecturally interesting
buildings would disappear forever.

Hornby Island and other coastal scenes
have also been favourite subjects of inspiration.
