Alexander Kozub

Alexander was born in Calgary, Alberta of Ukrainian parentage.
He was raised in the Badlands of Drumheller, Alberta, where
as a boy he developed a love of nature and the outdoors
that is reflected in both his oil and watercolour paintings
and his ink and watercolour woodblocks.

After graduating from the 4 year program
at the Alberta College of Art and Design
he worked as Art Director for Lawson Graphics.
In 1978 he started his own graphic arts company,
Alexander Graphics. He was well known for
his four colour maps and annual reports
that he did related to the oil industry.

Alexander has been honoured with
an Alexander Graphics section in the cartographic
division of the National Archives in Ottawa.
Since taking early retirement in 1990
he has devoted himself to fine art and has conducted
various workshops and taught community art classes.

Alexander paints the places and the things
that he loves and admires. He enjoys the solitude
and quiet that is found in nature
and while listening to his favorite music.
This is when his thoughts and imagination are actively
stimulated and his creative spirit is most influenced.

His desire is to bring the beauty he has experienced
into other people's lives. His hope is that they
will appreciate what he has portrayed
and see Nature's treasures
as something to be preserved and valued.
